2. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that websites send to a visitor's browser. They remain stored there and are sent back to the same websites on the next visit. They help websites work and, in some cases, collect information about browsing activity.

Other technologies have similar effects, including browser local storage. This notice applies to them in the same way.

3. Cookies used by this website

The Fantastic Garden website is static: its pages do not set first-party cookies, record a session identifier or store browsing preferences. Visitors choose a language by changing URL, not by saving a cookie.

3.1 Technical cookies

No technical cookies are used. The choice made through the banner is stored in the browser's local storage, not in a cookie. It stays on the visitor's device and is not sent with every request. It is exempt from consent because it is necessary to remember the consent choice, and it can be deleted by clearing the website data in the browser.

3.2 Third-party services that may set cookies

Some pages embed services supplied by third parties, which may set their own cookies. None of these services is loaded before consent: until a choice is made, a notice explains what would be loaded, and the content is retrieved only after the user requests it. Refusing does not remove the function: it requires one extra click, and users may still book directly on the providers' websites.

  • Google Maps — the map on the Contact page. Supplied by Google Ireland Limited. It may set cookies lasting up to six months. Privacy notice: policies.google.com/privacy
  • Simple Booking — the room booking engine on the Hotel page, loaded from cdn.simplebooking.it. It sets technical and session cookies needed to complete a booking.
  • WhatsApp (Meta) — only when a visitor chooses to start a conversation through one of the links on the Events pages. No cookie is set until the link is opened. Privacy notice: facebook.com/privacy/policy

3.3 Analytics cookies

The website uses Google Analytics 4 to measure traffic in aggregate: how many people visit pages, where they come from, and how many call or open a booking system. The service is supplied by Google Ireland Limited.

The script is not loaded until consent is given. Without an affirmative choice, the website does not contact Google, set analytics cookies or send any data, including anonymised data. This configuration is more restrictive than Google's default, which may send preliminary cookieless signals.

The website does not use advertising pixels and does not profile visitors. The advertising signals under Google's Consent Mode v2 (ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization) remain denied after consent because no advertising activity is carried out. Privacy notice: policies.google.com/privacy

4. Giving and withdrawing consent

On the first visit, a banner asks whether third-party services may be loaded. Accepting and refusing have equal visual prominence and each requires one click.

The choice may be changed or withdrawn at any time through “Cookie preferences” in the footer of every page. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before it.

If JavaScript is disabled, the website loads no third-party service and the banner does not appear; there is then nothing to accept or withdraw.

5. Managing cookies in the browser

Every browser allows users to block or delete cookies that have already been set. Disabling technical cookies may affect some functions, such as room booking.

  • Safari — Settings › Privacy
  • Microsoft Edge — Settings › Cookies and site permissions

6. Processing of personal data

Information about the personal data collected, the purposes, retention periods and data-subject rights is available in the Privacy Policy. The rules for using the website and bookable services are set out in the Terms and Conditions.

7. Changes to this notice

The Data Controller may amend this notice at any time by publishing the updated version on this page together with its last-updated date. Changes affecting the third-party services listed in section 3.2 will be accompanied by a new consent request where required.
